This is to cut down tax avoidance.

Getting ready for retirement any hopefully several trips abroad. Our son went to Italy three times while in college and one of his trips happened to coincide with a well known travel guide on PBS. It just so happened he was writing about the exact areas Adam was in. I doubt he still has all my letters on his computer but if I can remember the guide name I’m sure I’ll be able to locate them. Like you, he stayed off the beaten path and found the less expensive but extremely well outfitted. Can’t wait to go. Two of our friends are 10 weeks away from relocating to Ecuador , so we’ll be taking an extended trip there in 2022. The have rented a 3 bedroom apartment in an expat, gated community. Thanks for all your information, I’ll be printing it and rereading it often.

We’ve put off our trip to Rome twice now, but we’re fully vaccinated and can’t not wait to (safely) start exploring again! In the meantime, I’m scratching my travel itch by living vicariously through other people’s experiences. Thanks for sharing!

I remember staying in Rome for a couple of weeks and doing a daily grocery shop at the local store and was just fascinated by all of the interesting products. And yes, I definitely purchased some Passata! That stuff is gold. I also really loved visiting the Campagna Amica Market, it was foodie heaven!

i just want to thank you so very much for compiling this list. i traveled through rome with my partner and our friend this past August, and we followed your recommendations to the T. in fact, on the early occasions when we thought to ourselves, oh, we can scope out authentic and non-tourist-trappy-restaurants using our very own wits, we were sorely mistaken and regretful. it didn’t take long for us to decide that your list was our Rome food bible, and we are so grateful to you for sharing it. favorites of yours and ours included Pizzarium, Roscioli, and Trattoria Da Cesare.

Rome is my favorite place on earth! I fell in love with caccio e peppe my first night there and then had that dish all over Rome on both of my trips there. It was a “safe” dish my first night as I’m a vegetarian, but oh man it was happy tear worthy. I still get a warm feelings in my tummy when I think about it. And I agree about the pizzas. We had pizza by the slice at a random deli/grocery store and it was the best pizza ever. Better than the fanciest pizza here. Now I need to plan another trip!😂

I just love that- read about it somewhere…
